This session will provide a survey of empirical legal scholarship with a focus on providing students a template on how to engage in empirical research. We will discuss the steps in an empirical project including the development of a hypothesis, data collection, empirical tests, and presentation of results. We will also discuss basic statistical techniques. Lastly, we will survey several recent empirical papers as examples of empirical legal scholarship.
